Consulate General of Italy, London will accept applications from residents of the United Kingdom.

Visa application can be submitted in person by the Applicant only. Please note that ALL persons travelling must be present at the time of application.

Processed applications can also be returned by DX Securemail courier at an extra cost of 14.80 per passport.

Applicants have the option of paying their visa fees by Credit/Debit card (only at the Visa Application Centre) or Postal Orders in the name of "Italy Visa Application Centre". Fees in Cash will also be accepted. Cheques will not be accepted.

PLEASE NOTE:

From 27 May to 16 June 2013, the Italian Consulate in London will move to the new premises in Farringdon.

During this period of time, the Italian Visa Office will not be able to operate in its full capacity.

Delays in booking appointments and issuing visas must be expected.

Postal Applications for Italy

All Italian postal applications must only be sent to: Italian Visa Application Centre, 18-22 Mosley Street, Manchester M2 3AG

Jurisdiction:
Before you send your application, please check if you fall under the right jurisdiction to be applicable to apply by post to avoid disappointment as your documents will be returned to you.

You are eligible to send your application by post ONLY if you reside in England and Wales.

If you do not reside in England or Wales, you must only apply in person for your visa at the Italian Consulate in Edinburgh located at :

Eligibility:
To apply for a visa from the Consulate General of Italy in London by post, please ensure you meet the requirements for postal applications or your documents will be returned to you. You may only apply by post if you meet all of the following:
You hold a valid UK residence permit (NOT a C-type visitor visa)
You are only applying for a SHORT STAY tourist or business visa
If you have had a used Schengen visa issued by the Italian Consulate in London in the past 12 months,  OR -
If you have had at least 2 used Schengen visas issued by any other Schengen country’s Embassy/Consulate in the UK within the past 24 months

Procedure:
Please duly fill out the application form ensuring all information is accurate (make sure to sign the form in two required places – field 37 and after the declaration at the end of the form)

Processing time: please allow a minimum of 15 working days for the processing of postal applications.

Important notes:
If you are going to Italy for a Conference you need to apply under the Tourist category
If you have a separate UK residence permit (biometric card) please make sure that you send only the copy of the card and you certify it is a copy of the original. Please DO NOT include the original of your biometric card with the file.
If your application documentation requires you to provide any passport other than yours (like your parents’ or your spouse’s) or marriage/birth certificates, please DO NOT send the originals of those documents but only clear and complete copies

Payment:

Postal applicants must enclose a Postal Order payable to 'VF Services Ltd'. Please note that personal cheques, company cheques or cash are NOT acceptable.

Visa fee of £51.30 (£30.00 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and for the nationals of the following countries: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine)
Vfs Service charge of £24.00
Courier delivery service of £14.80 (to be included only if a pre-paid Royal Mail envelope is not being provided)
SMS and Email service for the tracking of your passport (recommended) od £1.44
TOTAL payable per application: £91.54 / £70.24 (inclusive of Courier delivery service)

NOTE: Children under the age of 6 and applicants applying under the EU-family member category are waived from the Visa fee. However they still must enclose a postal order for all the other outstanding fees of £40.24 (Vfs Service charge + Courier delivery service + SMS/email service)

Please ensure that if you don’t wish to avail of our Courier delivery service (DX Secure), then enclose a self-addressed, prepaid, Royal Mail envelope (one per passport /application) for the safe return of your passport and any other documents that might get returned.

Posting:
Once you’ve prepared your documents and postal order, please ensure you send everything, along with a pre-paid, self-addressed Royal Mail special delivery envelope to:

Please note that postal applications can only be submitted to the Manchester centre. Any applications sent to the London or Cardiff centres will be returned, unprocessed.

Processing time:
Processing time is a minimum of 2 weeks from the date of receipt of your documents at the VFS Visa Centre, providing a complete file is recieved. But please be aware it might take longer for certain cases. Please note that the visa cannot be issued on the same day. Please note that receipt of incomplete files may lead to delays in processing.

Processed passport return procedure:
A maximum of one processed passport shall be returned in one (Royal Mail SDE/Courier) envelope. VFS will not be responsible for any delays, if the correct numbers of return envelopes are not provided or courier charges are not paid as per the number of applications.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST COMPLY FULLY WITH THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE CATEGORY OF VISA THEY ARE APPLYING FOR. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, AND ALTERNATIVE DOCUMENTATION OTHER THAN THAT WHICH IS STATED ON THE WEBSITE WILL ALSO NOT BE ACCEPTED.

IN THE EVENT AN APPLICATION IS CONSIDERED UNACCEPTABLE AT THE TIME OF THE APPOINTMENT, IF THE APPLICANT CANNOT PROVIDE THE CORRECT DOCUMENTATION ON THE DAY OF THEIR APPOINTMENT, THEY WILL BE REQUIRED TO RETURN AND TAKE A NEW APPOINTMENT FROM OUR WEBSITE AT A LATER DATE TO SUBMIT THE COMPLETE APPLICATION.

PLESE NOTE IF THE APPLICANT WISHES TO GO AHEAD AND SUBMIT AND APPLICATION WHEREBY DOCUMENTS MAY BE MISSING, INCORRECT OR IN ANY WAY DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS AS PER THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED, WE MAY ACCEPT THE APPLICATION AND SEND IT TO THE CONSULATE. HOWEVER, PLEASE BE ADVISED IF THE APPLICATION IS RETURNED BY THE EMBASSY REQUESTING THE MISSING DOCUMENTS OR ANY OTHER MISSING OR INCORRECT INFORMATION,

THE APPLICANT MUST ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DELAY THAT MAY OCCUR IN PROCESSING THE APPLICATION IN TIME FOR THEIR DATE OF TRAVEL.


Handwritten Pakistani passports issued abroad can be ONLY accepted if the applicant can provide his/her Identity National Card (the only proof that can confirm the authenticity of the generality of the passport’s owner).

If the applicant is unable to provide the Identity National Card, the application should be refused.

Schengen Visa Information:

A Schengen visa has to be obtained from the Embassy of the country where the MAIN PURPOSE OF TRAVEL lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before applying at the Italy Visa Application Centre in London

In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please apply to the Embassy of the country where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the number of days to be spent in multiple countries is the same, you must apply to the embassy of the country which will be your first point of entry.

Please note that the above rule applies only in the case of a single, consecutive trip to multiple Schengen countries, it does not apply to separate trips to either one or more countries. If you are planning on separate trips to one or more countries, you must apply to the embassy of your first port of entry.

If you plan to apply for a Schengen visa at the Italy Visa Application Centre, your main destination and the maximum period of stay in the Schengen States must be in Italy only. Please provide proof to support this information.

Please note that all decisions regarding the issuance of, the duration and number of entries for a visa are at the sole discretion of the Consulate General of Italy.

Please note it is NOT the policy of the Italian Consulate to deliver multiple entry visas for tourism purposes.

The Italian Visa Application Centers will accept your application but cannot guarantee a visa as the decision to issue a visa and its duration is made by the Italian Consulate in London only.

Along with the visa fees, there is a service charge of £24.00 (inclusive of VAT) applicable per visa application.

Coin -operated Photocopier and Photo Booth are available for your use at the centre, should you require it.

Note:
  • All Fees (Visa, Service and Courier) for applications submitted in Manchester & Cardiff can be paid by Credit/Debit card, or in the form of a Postal order payable to 'The Italian visa Application Centre'. We regret that cash/ cheques cannot be accepted.
  • Applications submitted in Manchester & Cardiff will incur a mandatory courier charge of £ 14.80.
  • For applicants who are minors, a full birth certificate, a letter of consent for the minor to travel, signed by both parents, . as well as copies of the signed parents' passports are required. Both parents must sign the application form.
  • Passport and UK residence permit have to be valid for at least three months beyond the requested stay in the Schengen area.
  • Your UK permit must be valid for at least three months after your departure from the Schengen area.
  • All supporting documents have to be submitted together and in duplicate (original and photocopy).
  • Diplomatic passport holders and applicants having invitations from ICTP, Trieste, FAO, United Nations, ILO, have to contact directly the Consulate General of Italy, United Kingdom
  • Travel facilities for school pupils
    According to the Decision of the European Council of 30.11.1994, based on Article K.3.2.b of the European Union Treaty :
    A Member State shall not require a visa for a school pupil who is not a national of a Member State but who is legally resident in another Member State and who seeks to enter its territory either for a short stay or transit, if the following conditions are fulfilled:
    1. In the framework of a school excursion, the school pupil is travelling as a member of a group of a school pupils from a general education school;
    2. The group is accompanied  by a teacher from the school in question;
    3. The accompanying teacher must be able to present a list (on the accepted form) of the schoolchildren he/she is accompanying, issued by the school in question;
    4. The list must contain the names of ALL travelling pupils;
    5. The list must describe the purpose and the circumstances of the intended stay;
    6. The pupils from third countries must be in possession of a travel document for crossing the border in question.
