Consulate General of Italy, London will accept applications from residents of the United Kingdom.

Visa application can be submitted in person by the Applicant only. Please note that ALL persons travelling must be present at the time of application.

Processed applications can also be returned by DX Securemail courier at an extra cost of 8.90 per passport.

Applicants have the option of paying their visa fees by Credit/Debit card (only at the Visa Application Centre) or Postal Orders in the name of "Italy Visa Application Centre". Fees in Cash will also be accepted. Cheques will not be accepted.

PLEASE NOTE:

From 27 May to 16 June 2013, the Italian Consulate in London will move to the new premises in Farringdon.

During this period of time, the Italian Visa Office will not be able to operate in its full capacity.

Delays in booking appointments and issuing visas must be expected.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST COMPLY FULLY WITH THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE CATEGORY OF VISA THEY ARE APPLYING FOR. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, AND ALTERNATIVE DOCUMENTATION OTHER THAN THAT WHICH IS STATED ON THE WEBSITE WILL ALSO NOT BE ACCEPTED.

IN THE EVENT AN APPLICATION IS CONSIDERED UNACCEPTABLE AT THE TIME OF THE APPOINTMENT, IF THE APPLICANT CANNOT PROVIDE THE CORRECT DOCUMENTATION ON THE DAY OF THEIR APPOINTMENT, THEY WILL BE REQUIRED TO RETURN AND TAKE A NEW APPOINTMENT FROM OUR WEBSITE AT A LATER DATE TO SUBMIT THE COMPLETE APPLICATION.

PLESE NOTE IF THE APPLICANT WISHES TO GO AHEAD AND SUBMIT AND APPLICATION WHEREBY DOCUMENTS MAY BE MISSING, INCORRECT OR IN ANY WAY DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS AS PER THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED, WE MAY ACCEPT THE APPLICATION AND SEND IT TO THE CONSULATE. HOWEVER, PLEASE BE ADVISED IF THE APPLICATION IS RETURNED BY THE EMBASSY REQUESTING THE MISSING DOCUMENTS OR ANY OTHER MISSING OR INCORRECT INFORMATION,

THE APPLICANT MUST ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DELAY THAT MAY OCCUR IN PROCESSING THE APPLICATION IN TIME FOR THEIR DATE OF TRAVEL.


Schengen Visa Information:

A Schengen visa has to be obtained from the Embassy of the country where the MAIN PURPOSE OF TRAVEL lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before applying at the Italy Visa Application Centre in London

In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please apply to the Embassy of the country where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the number of days to be spent in multiple countries is the same, you must apply to the embassy of the country which will be your first point of entry.

Please note that the above rule applies only in the case of a single, consecutive trip to multiple Schengen countries, it does not apply to separate trips to either one or more countries. If you are planning on separate trips to one or more countries, you must apply to the embassy of your first port of entry.

If you plan to apply for a Schengen visa at the Italy Visa Application Centre, your main destination and the maximum period of stay in the Schengen States must be in Italy only. Please provide proof to support this information.

Please note that all decisions regarding the issuance of, the duration and number of entries for a visa are at the sole discretion of the Consulate General of Italy.

The Italian Visa Application Centers will accept your application but cannot guarantee a visa as the decision to issue a visa and its duration is made by the Italian Consulate in London only.

Along with the visa fees, there is a service charge of £24.00 (inclusive of VAT) applicable per visa application.

Coin -operated Photocopier and Photo Booth are available for your use at the centre, should you require it.

Note:
  • All Fees (Visa, Service and Courier) for applications submitted in Manchester & Cardiff can be paid by Credit/Debit card, or in the form of a Postal order payable to 'The Italian visa Application Centre'. We regret that cash/ cheques cannot be accepted.
  • Applications submitted in Manchester & Cardiff will incur a mandatory courier charge of £ 14.80.
  • For applicants who are minors, a full birth certificate, a letter of consent for the minor to travel, signed by both parents, . as well as copies of the signed parents' passports are required. Both parents must sign the application form.
  • Passport and UK residence permit have to be valid for at least three months beyond the requested stay in the Schengen area.
  • Your UK permit must be valid for at least three months after your departure from the Schengen area.
  • All supporting documents have to be submitted together and in duplicate (original and photocopy).
  • Diplomatic passport holders and applicants having invitations from ICTP, Trieste, FAO, United Nations, ILO, have to contact directly the Consulate General of Italy, United Kingdom
  • Travel facilities for school pupils
    According to the Decision of the European Council of 30.11.1994, based on Article K.3.2.b of the European Union Treaty :
    A Member State shall not require a visa for a school pupil who is not a national of a Member State but who is legally resident in another Member State and who seeks to enter its territory either for a short stay or transit, if the following conditions are fulfilled:
    1. In the framework of a school excursion, the school pupil is travelling as a member of a group of a school pupils from a general education school;
    2. The group is accompanied  by a teacher from the school in question;
    3. The accompanying teacher must be able to present a list (on the accepted form) of the schoolchildren he/she is accompanying, issued by the school in question;
    4. The list must contain the names of ALL travelling pupils;
    5. The list must describe the purpose and the circumstances of the intended stay;
    6. The pupils from third countries must be in possession of a travel document for crossing the border in question.

VISA APPLYING
PROCESS


Step 1
Only applications for the categories of Tourist, Business, Family/ Friend visits and Dependents/ Spouses of EEA Nationals who are resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 months are accepted at the VFS application centre

Step 2
Please go to the link on top left of this page All about your Visas”, “Non Immigrant visa’s’ to choose the right visa category for you and the requirements to make the visa application. Please click on the link for an overview of the Application Procedure. Please ensure that you read the ‘documents required’ and ‘processing times’ sections carefully by clicking on these links. Please also be aware that documentary requirements may change from time to time, and applicants are therefore advised to check the requirements EVERY time when making a visa application, and should not proceed on information provided on previous applications.

Step 3
All applicants travelling must apply in person - On arriving the visa application centre, you will be required to take a token at the entrance and be seated in the waiting area – you will next be called to our submission counter where your application and supporting documents will be scrutinized – your photograph and passport will be checked for validity – Finally, you will be issued a receipt for the fees and service charge paid as an acknowledgement. Please carry the originals and copies of all documents.

NOTE - when requesting multiple entry visa or long term visa’s ie 6 months or 1 year, please note that the decision to issue such visa’s rests solely with the Consulate itself. You may request such visa’s at the time of application, but we cannot guarantee the outcome of such requests.

NOTE - please be aware that no documentation will be returned with your passport, so unless specifically requested please do not give original copies of documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificate’s etc. Only copies of such documents should be submitted with your application.
